To sew a washbag from a towel you’ll need:
– small towel with tab
– elastic, matching yarn
– sewing machine, pins etc.
To figure out your measurements fold lower half of towel up and use the longest object (for me it was a toothbrush) you will be storing in your bag to measure.
Fold down top part and decide if you like what you’re seeing of if you want to make any adjustments. Pin side seams for lower half, include elastic on one side.
This is when I made a test run putting in some stuff, rolling everything up to see, if the length of my elastic was sufficient.
Once you’re happy sew your side seams.
The next step would be to decide how many and how wide your compartments will be.
I decided on two wider compartments to the left and right and two smaller ones for toothbrush and toothpaste in the middle. Pin. Sew. Done.
To make this a great gift, you could stock it with some pretty toiletries. Maybe a toothbrush in a favorite color, or Hello Kitty hankies, fancy hand creme, whatever people like and never buy for themselves.
