I love color and I can’t go by any jewelry display with colorful statement necklaces without taking a look. I don’t particularly like wearing short necklaces because I always feel a little bit like I am being choked. So I thought I’d try my hand at making a sort of statement necklace that is not too tight but still has a lot of style. Here’s how I did that.
– different sized chains
– loop and closure
– wire cutter
I have been looking for a good supplier for chains to make necklaces for ages. And finally found the motherload at the hardware store. At least in Germany the sell a wide variety by the meter.
For this project I chose four different kinds of chain and used six pieces total. I went for a length of 50cm and cut all chains slightly longer.
Loops and closures can be found at most stores that sell jewelry making supplies.
I started with threading all chains through one of the loops.
Next, I laid everything flat on a table and shortened the single chain strands to different lengths.
Then I threaded the chain ends through loop No. 2. I didn’t really pay attention to the order and if any strands got twisted. Finally add the closure and you’re done.
